Reviews: The positive & negatives // Blog #8

Negative Review:
1.) www.vulture.com/m/2014/10/movie-review-the-best-of-me.html
2.) This review is on the movie, "Best of Me".
3.) The attitude of this reviewer is displeased with the movie.
4.) The reviewer states that the young version and the older version of the lead male character do not resemble each other at all. Also, they believe the movie was rushed at the end.
5.) I disagreed with the reviewer because I loved this movie. Although the main characters young and old self did not look alike, I felt as if they did a great job playing the character anyway. Also I do not think the ending was rushed at all.

Positive Review:
1.) www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/la-et-ms-one-direction-four-review-20141118-story.html
2.) This review is on One Directions new album, "Four".
3.) The reviewer was pleased with the boys new album.
4.) The reviewer notes similarities between songs on the new album to previous well-known bands. Also, the reviewer notes hoe much the sound has matured and changed since their start.
5.) I agree with the reviewer because I throughly enjoy One Direction, their music, and especially their new album.

Cartoon vs. Editorial // Blog #7

1.) The cartoon i found was about gay marriage and how gay people still aren't getting a say in their marriage. My editorial is about how the supreme court is slowly getting closer to allowing same-sex marriage in all states.
2.) In the cartoon, it shows a form for someone's wedding day and how if the person getting married is straight, everything is easy, but if the person is gay, it takes a lot more steps to actually get married. I believe both the cartoonish/author want same-sex marriage to be legal everywhere in America.
3.) They are both alike because they both talk about how complicated it is for gay people to get married. They are different because the editorial talks about how some states are ignoring appeals from other court rulings.
4.) I believe the cartoon is more effective because it's straight to the point and gives a clear messages about how complicated gay marriage is due to the ban in certain states.
5.) A variety of people are able to understand pictures better than editorials and vise versa. I believe cartoons allow more creativity in the topic, but also editorials can give more information about a situation than a picture can.

Nurse without Ebola in quarantine

Many doctors and nurses have been sent to Africa to help patients suffering with Ebola, Kaci Hickox is one of them. Hickok treated patients with Ebola in Sierra Leone with Doctors Without Borders. Although she tested negative for Ebola, she was put in quarantine.
Above are two doctors checking up and feeding a young Ebola patient.

Over the 21-day quarantine, Hickox had been fighting against the state of New Jersey and officials. She believes that this was cruel to do to her since she did not have Ebola.
Northwestern's school nurse, Mrs. Van Gelder, believed that the 21-day quarantine is a good safety precaution to help prevent Ebola from spreading. Mrs. Van Gelder also, "Bring patients to America is a very big danger to everyone else and it's just going to get worse." Lastly, Mrs. Van Gelder believes that in order to prevent Ebola from spreading, large precautions, such as the one taken to Hickox, are crucial for the safety of others.
Kaci Hickox is the young nurse that was put in quarantine even after testing negative for the tragic virus.
